Job Overview

Are you ready to help Amazon deliver world class service in its transportation operations? Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities (such as checking in trailers, traffic flow, internal communications with operations, etc.), conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs (Hostler, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) School, etc.), and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need (including but not limited to hostlers and day cabs) to support Amazon’s transportation network.

• Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations, and enforce safety measures and policies for all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon, including vendors and senior team members.
• Perform various functions within the yard, supporting site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
• Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non‑public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
• Learn Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and comply with company policies, procedures, and DOT requirements (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting, break periods, etc.).
• Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
• Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks at appropriate times in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, adhere to yard safety policies, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive in accordance with weather and road conditions.
• Support the business on an as‑needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area.
• Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).

If requested due to business need, Transportation Associates must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Driver Qualification File (DQF) and use it as a condition of the role, paid for by Amazon. For roles requiring a CDL and DQF, the position becomes regulated by the Department of Transportation  follows regulations issued by the FMCSA. Candidate must hold a valid driver’s license for the state in which they reside and be eligible to drive in accordance with DOT requirements.

English proficiency is required per federal regulation for DOT‑regulated roles.

Continuing in the position with CDL and DQF certification is contingent upon the successful completion of a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, a DOT physical, and Amazon’s pre‑employment drug test.

• Hold a valid and active driver’s license.
• High school or equivalent diploma.
• Candidate is 21 years or older and can understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English.
• Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and ascend/descend stairs.
• Work 40 hours per week, with overtime as required.
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
• Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors.
