Secondary Roads Summer Engineering Aide

Temporary - Summer 2026 - not to exceed 4 months.

This position is seasonal, typically summer, performs beginning level sub‑professional engineering work in the office or in the field and numerous other duties under the direct authority of the County Engineer and Secondary Roads Foreman.

Work Headquarters:
Woodbury County Engineer's Office, 759 Frontage Road, Moville, IA 51039

• Positions available at various Woodbury County Secondary Roads Maintenance sheds:
  Moville, Correctionville, Oto and Hornick, Iowa
• Position typically during summer
• Performs beginning level sub‑professional engineering work in the office or in the field and numerous other duties under the direct authority of County Engineer and Secondary Roads Foreman.
• Must be able to furnish and wear safety shoes while performing job duties.
• Attendance is required.

• Provides assistance with a variety of duties within the scope of responsibility assigned by County Engineer and Secondary Roads Foreman.

• Knowledge of elementary mathematics and some college coursework preferred; skill in the use of hand tools; completion of a standard high school course, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Minimum 18 years of age, previous experience desired.
• Possession of a current valid driver's license and insurance with good driving record.
• Ability to routinely lift 40 pounds.
• Perform physical labor in all types of weather conditions and be exposed to dust, fumes and loud noises.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate successfully with the public in clearly spoken English.
• Candidate for hire must successfully pass a background check, a physical examination, vision, back screen and drug screen prior to employment.
