Job DescriptionThe School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and school-related activities. This role ensures student safety, maintains proper conduct on the bus, and follows all traffic laws and district policies.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a school bus safely along assigned routes and schedules.
- Pick up and drop off students at designated stops.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and proper functioning.
- Maintain order and discipline on the bus; report any issues to appropriate school officials.
- Follow all traffic laws, state and local regulations, and district policies related to school bus operation.
- Keep accurate records of routes, student counts, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ensure the bus is clean and well-maintained.
- Assist students when necessary, including helping young or special-needs students board and exit the bus safely.
- Participate in required training and safety meetings.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and drug screening as required.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Early morning and afternoon hours with split shifts.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
- May require sitting for extended periods and assisting with student mobility devices.
