Essential Duties & Responsibilities Transportation & Delivery- Deliver bulk petroleum orders to c-stores and cardtrol locations safely, following regulations.
- Operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner and manage vehicle maintenance.
- Deliver, connect, and maintain petroleum equipment.
- Respond to after‑hour calls from team members when appropriate.
- Work extended hours as requested by supervisor to ensure good customer service in busy season.
- Communicate safe storage and handling procedures to fellow team members.
- Complete all driving logs and other documentation in an accurate, neat, and timely manner.
- Maintain electronic delivery records & tickets.
- Comply with all DOT, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and NEW Cooperative safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with energy salespeople to increase sales of petroleum and related products.
- Assist in developing and promoting competitive marketing strategies/plans.
- Maintain current knowledge of products & services offered.
- Ensure that work area, equipment, and vehicles are all neat, clean, and well maintained.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment to promote a positive company image.
- Perform or schedule repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
- Visually inspect tanks, pumps, and other location equipment during filling. Alert location manager or supervisor.
- Use all tools, equipment, and vehicles carefully and for their intended use.
- Assist in other areas of the location as needed.
- Perform work in a safe manner at all times and use the appropriate PPE.
- Check the work area for hazards and correct/reports unsafe conditions.
- Consider the safety of oneself, and other employees, and customers.
- Follow all safety protocols and seek advice from supervisor when uncertain.
- Maintain open communication and cooperate with supervisor, departments, and fellow employees.
- Communicate with supervisor and others immediately when unexpected problems cause absence, lateness, or the need to leave early.
- Abide by policies set forth in the employee policy manual.
- Carrying a fair share of the workload.
- Promote NEW Cooperative through positive, friendly, and professional interactions.
- Be punctual, follow directives, and work in an efficient and timely manner; accept personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the work.
- Understand that satisfactory attendance is essential to the efficient operation of the work environment.
- Continually work to satisfy customers by addressing questions/concerns through effective communication, solving problems, responding to questions, and managing their expectations.
- Establish personal performance goals and work toward these goals.
- Continually upgrade and demonstrate knowledge of the job.
- Must be licensed and insurable to drive.
- Must have at least a Class B CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with Tanker and Haz Mat endorsements. Class A CDL preferred.
- Must have an understanding of the weather conditions and know that temperatures may be below or above normal, depending upon the time of year and adjustment is necessary to maintain high levels of customer service.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Understand the seasonality of the farm supply business and the in‑season time commitment.
- Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with customers and individuals at all levels of organization.
- Possess problem solving capability and understand the operational processes.
