Transitional Housing Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma informed comprehensive services to transitional housing families.
  • Develop individualized housing and service plans, including a path to permanent housing stability.
  • Monitor and evaluate program participant progress.
  • Serve as primary contact for housing assistance from both survivors and community partners.
  • Develop partnerships with housing and community providers to assist survivors in housing.
  • Troubleshoot technical housing issues as they arise with staff, victim advocates, and victims accessing housing programs.
  • Provide information and referrals to other providers or programs.
  • Provide ongoing risk assessment and safety planning with participants.
  • Transport victims to and from necessary appointments, including daily needs, medical, legal, law enforcement, court, etc.
  • Attend conferences and workshops related to housing issues concerning victims of crime.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual reports.
  • Assist with capacity building and research to further develop the Transitional Housing program.
  • Create and present culturally appropriate educational material regarding domestic violence to community partners including area schools, Meskwaki Community, and Tribal employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of case management, working with victims of crime, and public speaking/educational experience.
  • Experience in grant writing and reporting is desirable.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate skills in the cultural context of the Meskwaki Community.
  • Must submit to and successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and positive interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Must be willing to be on call evenings and weekends.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, internet, email, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.

Salary Level

Annual Salary Range: $43,472 - $59,904
