Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Algona, IA, for a Sexual Assault Advocate. The advocate will provide direct support and advocacy services to individuals affected by sexual assault, including crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, and assistance with accessing resources. Responsibilities include facilitating referrals to appropriate organizations, providing education and outreach to the community, and maintaining accurate case documentation adhering to confidentiality standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to facilitate client referrals.
  • Experience in education, awareness, and outreach efforts.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage confidential information responsibly.
  • Demonstrated empathy, cultural competency, and dedication to supporting survivors of sexual assault.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to undergo training and maintain certification in areas relevant to crisis intervention and advocacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a supportive environment.
