DescriptionThe purpose of the role is to monitor and screen all waste and recyclable materials delivered by residents to county convenience centers; to assist the райони public in placing materials in proper containers; to monitor container volume; and to maintain site appearance and safety. The position operates under procedures and close supervision.
Duties- independence
- Opening and closing the assigned convenience center; locking the building and gates at the end of the day.Аԥс
- Monitoring and screening all waste and recyclable materials delivered to county convenience centers.
- Directing traffic at drop‑off sites.
- Ensuring the trash compactor is operational and ready to receive waste.
- Assisting the public in placing materials in proper containers; determining if waste is acceptable; transferring recyclables from small to large bins; and properly sorting them.
- Monitoring containers to ensure adequate space for disposal; calling in daily waste and recyclable volumes as required for scheduling the next day’s collections; calling in collection requests as needed.
- Removing any and all contamination from containers.
- Making sure containers are emptied when full.
- Cleaning up spills in the oil collection section.
- Maintaining the convenience center and surrounding area in a clean, orderly manner; picking up trash and debris as necessary; cleaning drop pans; and hosing down areas to eliminate spills and odors.
- Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records of daily activities.
- Answering telephones and providing information and/or assistance to callers.
- Cleaning and maintaining assigned equipment and tools.
- Providing training and leadership to workers as assigned.
- Assisting with other Solid Waste Department functions as assigned.
- Performing all duties in accordance with county policies and procedures, standards of quality and safety, and all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Performing other related job duties as assigned.
All County employees are considered public servants. When requested before, during, or after an emergency event, county employees are expected to serve the public in coping with the emergency.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.
iltä Require at least six (6) months of related work experience.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a safe and secure environment that may periodically have unexpected requirements or demands.
Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a part‑time position; typical work 52 hours per pay period Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.;
Saturday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during core work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Employees must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays during emergencies or as requested. This is a safety‑sensitive position and employees holding this position have the responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.
This position is subject to random drug testing. Jeans Permanent part‑time employees are eligible for benefits under the South Carolina Retirement System.
