Western Engineering Co Inc is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team of dedicated professionals. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various types of heavy equipment used in construction and paving projects. Your expertise will ensure that our machinery operates at peak performance, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations.
We are looking for a mechanic who is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about machinery, and who can work independently as well as part of a team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of heavy equipment and contribute to impactful projects.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, and specialized paving equipment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures
- Collaborate with operators and management to prioritize repair needs and minimize downtime
- Document all maintenance and repair work accurately in our system
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Assist in the training of junior mechanics and operators on equipment maintenance
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technologies to enhance equipment performance.
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in construction or mining sectors
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform diagnostics and repairs
- In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment systems, including hydraulics, engines, and electrical components
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to job sites as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
