Communication Data Link is looking for a Fiber Technician. We have several openings for individuals looking to continue growing their career and willing to learn and grow with our company. We will provide as much training as needed to help you succeed in this role.
Qualifications- Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification or education program
- Must have experience in installing and repairing fiber optic lines. Installing new lines above ground on poles or underground and repairing existing lines
- Aerial experience preferred
- Experience with Jetting Fiber
- Excellent manual dexterity and able to see different colors
- Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures
- Proven ability to guide safe work practices in a high‑pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget
- Must be capable of handling logistics and crew assignments (preferred)
- Experience operating and performing work in a bucket truck, man‑lift, etc. (preferred)
- Valid Iowa Driver’s License
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet) and perform work on uneven surfaces.
- The ability to work with little supervision while following safety policies and procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment, and adding to a safe and positive team environment is a must.
- Fiber, coax, and copper splicing and activation
- Provide fiber splicing services such as hot cut work, emergency testing, and restoration.
- Provide complete Outside Plant Splicing (OSP) and Inside Plant Splicing (ISP) fiber splicing services.

Standard Work Week:
Monday-Friday; 7 am – 5 pm;
Weekend work may be required with little or no notice; work schedule determined by season, weather, deadlines, and availability of work.
Travel: at times, the employee may be assigned to a job site where several overnight stays are required
Environment
Conditions:
at times will be exposed to various contaminants, like exhausted vapors, gas/diesel fumes, and dust; be subjected to noisy conditions; diverse weather conditions, including high heat (over 90°), freezing conditions (below 15°), and all forms of precipitation (high humidity/snow/rain)
