Journeyman-Gas – May accept apprentice

• Perform work in a safe manner. Comply with all applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Perform all work that the employee is qualified and trained to do in a manner that protects themselves, fellow employees, and the public from injury.
• Locate underground gas and electric facilities in conjunction with their work, and perform locates where no Locator/Leak Surveyors exist.
• Perform mechanical type tasks such as fusing and installing plastic pipe, installing steel pipe, installing sleeves, unions, clamps, ells, tees, and crosses; may bury other underground utilities; apply protective coating on steel pipe and fittings; install locating wire on plastic and steel facilities; install cathodic protection devices and take reads; assist with setting, removing, and piping large meters and regulators; may perform miscellaneous restoration work.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with company and department rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and construction standards.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications and work from prints, sketches, and/or verbal instructions.
• Operate main drilling, tapping, and stopping equipment.
• Complete leak survey and investigation of gas facilities with combustible gas indicators (CGI and FI), flame ionization equipment, bar‑hole testing, and soap.
• Assist with measurements and field paperwork required in connection with operations, maintenance, and construction work, including the requisition of materials.
• Install gas meters through class 2, regulators, and vents on residential, commercial, and industrial services in association with maintenance and construction work; assist others with industrial and commercial sets, regulators, and vents.
• Re‑light and inspect gas equipment when performing maintenance on services, replacing services, and moving location of services.
• Maintain the work area in a neat, orderly, and safe condition.
• Lead, train, and instruct employees in their work.
