$28 - $33 per hour (based on experience and qualification).

Reports to the superintendent, requires travel, has no supervisory responsibility.

Overview

Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles. Requires travel with overtime through peak season.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles including light duty, heavy duty, and trucks, backhoes, loaders, paving equipment, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Repair tires, wheels, wheel bearings, idler wheels, idler bearings, and oil seals.
  • Repair hydraulic and air brake systems.
  • Determine the nature and extent of repairs required.
  • Perform minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, transfers, and related electrical, fuel, and hydraulic components.
  • Use technical manuals and other publications to identify and order repair parts.
  • Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges, and overall strong diagnostic skills.
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e., work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours).
Requirements
  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
  • Accreditation from the school of mechanics or 3 plus years working with heavy construction equipment.
  • Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal.
  • Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to reach below/at/above shoulders.
  • Pushing/Pulling/Twisting/Bending.
  • Sitting/Standing/Balancing.
  • Operate hand and foot controls.
  • Simple/Firm grasping/Pinching.
  • Ability to lift/lower/carry over 50 pounds.
  • Squatting/Stooping/Crouching/Kneeling/Crawling.
