Metal Building Erector

Location: Ely

Skillforce is seeking skilled Metal Building Erectors for commercial and industrial projects in the Cedar Rapids, IA area. This role involves the assembly, installation, and finishing of pre-engineered metal buildings and structural steel systems. Candidates should have a strong background in commercial or industrial construction and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. This is a contract to hire role, working up to 50 hours a week, and pay is up to $30/hr depending upon experience.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual and can speak English and Spanish fluently.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and erect pre-engineered metal building systems, including steel framing, wall panels, and roof systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate installation.
• Bolt, weld, or rivet structural components as required.
• Operate lifts, hoists, and other construction equipment safely.
• Install insulation, siding, trim, and related building components.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety standards on the job site.
• Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and fellow crew members to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in metal building erection, steel work, or related construction field preferred.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings.
• Comfortable working at heights and on elevated platforms.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
• Strong work ethic and reliability with the ability to work 40+ hours per week.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
