Underground Utility Locator

Salary: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

• Drive company vehicle directly from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocations.
• Utilize provided mapping tools and locating equipment to find underground utilities (electric, gas, telephone, and other communication lines).
• Mark utility locations with paint or flags and communicate information to excavation personnel or appropriate authorities.
• Respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs according to the rotation schedule.

Qualifications:

• Computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license in applicable state of employment.
• Ability to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule.
• Subject to Vannguard’s Drug‑Free Workplace Program and completion of pre‑employment drug screening.
• Able to self‑manage and communicate with supervisors and clients in a timely manner.

Physical Demands:

• Drive 50 to 300+ miles daily as required.
• Get in and out of a vehicle 50+ times a day.
• Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ mile) over uneven terrain in all weather.
• Sit for long periods while driving.
• Lift and/or move 50 to 150 pounds.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

License: Driver's license (Required)

Work Location: Multiple locations

Job Type: Full‑time

Schedule:

• 10‑hour shift.
• Monday to Friday.
• On call.
• Overtime.

Preferred Experience:

• Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred).
• Utility locating: 1 year (Preferred).
