Job Title: Underground Utility Locator

Location: Sheldon, IA (multiple locations)

Salary: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour, with overtime pay.

Job Type: Full-time, 10‑hour shift, Monday‑Friday, on call.

COVID-19 Considerations: This position is outdoors with minimal contact and interaction with others.

Schedule: 10 hour shift, Monday to Friday, on call, overtime available.

• Drive a company vehicle directly from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocations.
• Utilize mapping tools, location information, and locating equipment to identify underground utilities including electric, gas, telephone, and other communication lines.
• Indicate utility locations using paint, flags, and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel or appropriate authorities.
• Respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs in accordance with the established rotation schedule.

• Computer skills
• Valid driver’s license in the applicable state of employment.
• Ability to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule.
• Subject to Vannguard’s Drug‑Free Workplace Program and required to complete a pre‑employment drug screening.
• Ability to self‑manage and communicate with supervisors and clients in a timely manner.

• Drive 50 to 300+ miles daily as required by the assigned geographic locating area.
• Get in and out of a vehicle 50+ times per day.
• Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ mile) over uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
• Sit for long periods while driving.
• Lift and/or move 50 to 150 pounds.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• High school or equivalent (required).
• Driver’s license (required).
