NASDA Part-time Field Enumerator - Palo Alto County

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking part-time individuals to support our organization. Prior experience in sales or agriculture, working with diverse personalities, and basic mathematical skills are highly desirable.

About the Role

The Field Enumerator collects accurate, unbiased data and provides essential information to farmers, ranchers, rural communities, and other agricultural businesses. Enumerators conduct interviews in person and by telephone, and perform crop counts in designated fields, in a professional and representative manner.

All enumerators undergo comprehensive training for studies on animal and plant health, farming practices, procedures, and questionnaires required to perform the job effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Enter detailed data gathered from agricultural operators in a timely manner.
  • Report daily progress, time, and mileage.
  • Conduct interviews and crop assessments as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • On-the-job training provided; opportunities for professional advancement.
  • Must have a private workspace with a functional telephone and minimal distractions; a personal vehicle for travel related to field duties.
  • Flexible schedule that may include some evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and iPads; able to work in a deadline-driven environment with multiple tasks.
  • Ability to examine crop status in corn or soybean fields; lift/carry up to 40 lbs; walk unassisted on uneven ground for up to 100 yards.
  • Ability to travel up to 250 miles per quarter for training, as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Starts at $17.75 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement and required supplies.
