Van Buren County Hospital is seeking a Food Service Worker to support patient, staff, and visitor meal service. This role prepares, seasons, and cooks food according to recipes and dietary requirements; assists with cafeteria service; operates and cleans kitchen equipment; and performs dishwashing and sanitation tasks. Accuracy, safe food‑handling, and excellent customer service are essential.
Schedule:
This role primarily works weekday shifts, with occasional weekend rotations as needed.
Prepare, season, and cook food following standardized recipes
Serve food for patient trays according to dietary orders
Assist with cafeteria service and cashiering
Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment
Wash dishes, utensils, and serviceware; maintain sanitation standards
Collaborate with the Dietary Supervisor and dietitian regarding food needs
Maintain diet records and assist with tray preparation
Follow all safety, infection control, and departmental procedures
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of the 90‑hour food service short course within 90 days of hire
