Overview

This is a key Quality Leadership position at the Carry-On Trailer facility, located in Missouri Valley, IA. The Missouri Valley Plant Quality Supervisor will report solid line to the COT Director of Quality. This role will work closely with suppliers, external and internal customers, and other team members to address existing quality related issues and will work with other Quality professionals across the company to ensure best practice sharing and collaborative focus while developing the Quality System at the Missouri Valley facility.

This role will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager and will be a member of the Plant Manager’s Leadership team supporting the plant.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and conduct statistical analysis of production processes and report findings, assisting in resolution at the Missouri Valley facility.
  • Leverage internal and external supplier performance data and work with the Corporate Supplier Quality Engineer and key suppliers on improving quality of purchased materials and components that impact finished product quality, cost and performance. Utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning to prepare the Missouri Valley facility for a successful rollout.
  • Be proficient with tools and methods such as A3, PDCA, RCCA, OTD, 8D, or other similar tools to communicate current state and actions to improve quality, cost and performance of the company’s product and processes.
  • Incorporate process-oriented approaches that eliminate process variation by creating, revising, and implementing work instructions or quality standards to ensure output parts and products meet internal and external requirements.
  • Interact at all levels of the supply chain with suppliers, customers (internal and external) and other team members.
  • Leverage warranty data and related information to improve the overall quality of finished products.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach cross-functional plant and supplier problem-solving activities to achieve overall company product quality, cost and performance goals.
  • Promote application of error-proofing solutions that leverage root cause analysis and corrective actions to sustain improvement.
  • Provide quality technical expertise for development, maintenance, and adherence to engineering and quality specifications both internally and with suppliers.
  • Communicate the status of quality issues internally and to customers as required.
  • Include training employees; planning, coordinating work through operations leadership, addressing complaints, and resolving quality-related problems.
Position Critical to Quality (CTQ) + Safety (S) Technical Requirements
  • ASQ Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment focused on either process improvements, or supplier quality (or both).
  • Proficiency in statistical process control and understanding Cp, Cpk, Xbar & R or S, etc.
  • Comprehensive understanding of a Quality Management System such as ISO 9001:2015, TS16949, etc.
  • Functional understanding of the supplier-customer relationship, experience as the primary liaison to a critical supplier, and ability to interact at all levels of the supply chain with customers (internal and external).
  • Ability to generate effective reporting using tools such as A3, PDCA, RCCA, OTD, 8D, or similar to communicate current state and actions to improve.
