DESCRIPTION This position includes general maintenance and development of county wildlife areas, parks, trails, and campgrounds within the O’Brien County Conservation Board system.
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD Flexible:
May 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026. Normal work shift:
Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional weekend hours as needed. Report to Mill Creek Park Maintenance Shop, th St., Paullina, Iowa. Hourly wage: $15.00 - $16.00 (DOE) per hour at 40 hours per week.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED This position is under the immediate supervision of the Conservation Board Operations Supervisor. All employees of the Conservation Board are under the general supervision of the Conservation Board members.
Responsibilities- Activities related to establishment and restoration of natural areas including:
- Removal and management of invasive species using mechanical and chemical means such as chainsaws, backpack sprayers, and OHV spray units
- Tree/shrub planting and maintenance
- Trail maintenance
- Clean and maintain restrooms, cabins, and other park facilities
- Operation and maintenance of department equipment
- Other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor
- Must be 18 years of age at time of hire
- Must have a valid Iowa driver’s license
- Must pass a pre‑employment physical and drug test
Ability to routinely stand, sit, walk, operate hand tools and some machinery, kneel, stoop, balance, and climb; ability to routinely lift 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in extreme hot, cold, rainy, and windy weather conditions and be exposed to dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
