The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long-term care. The NA provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Responsibilities include bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, recording vital signs, assisting with mobility and transfers, preparing meals, documenting resident interactions, maintaining housekeeping standards, and supporting recreational and wellness programs.
Responsibilities- Deliver resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance.
- Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing.
- Record and report vital signs and resident changes.
- Support mobility—repositioning, transferring, and walking using proper techniques.
- Prepare and serve meals, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Document resident interactions, behaviors, and care outcomes.
- Maintain housekeeping and laundry services for resident areas.
- Facilitate participation in wellness and recreational programs.
- Assist nursing staff with procedures and potential clinical support.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred).
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care (preferred).
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required, obtained within four months of hire.
- Annual competency testing and continuing education (12 hours per year).
- Compliance with infection prevention and personal protective equipment policies.
- Medical qualification for essential driving functions if the role requires driving.
