Registered Nurse; RN – Med​/Surg Weekend

Van Buren County Hospital is hiring a Weekend Package RN to provide exceptional care for Med/Surg patients on our day shift team.
Work three 12-hour shifts each week (Friday–Sunday) and enjoy a consistent schedule with competitive pay and benefits.

Van Buren County Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team as part of our Weekend Package. This position provides professional nursing care to acute, sub‑acute, and chronically ill patients while supporting our “One Culture” values of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for a diverse population.
• Safely perform nursing procedures, administer medications, and respond to emergencies.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, treatments, and discharge planning.
• Document patient status and care plans in the electronic health record.
• Coordinate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality outcomes.
• Promote VBCH’s cultural values through professional, patient‑centered care.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Iowa RN license or compact state license.
• BLS certification required; ACLS required or willing to obtain.
• PALS/TNCC encouraged or obtainable within one year (for cross‑training to ED).
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
