KeyJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, nurse supervisor, charge nurse, or RCC Services, in accordance with nursing standards and community policies.
- Comply with the community’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Follow nursing department policies and procedures.
- Report allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Executive Director, RCC or Unit Manager.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information and treat all individuals with respect and dignity.
- Report complaints or grievances to RCC Services or per policy.
- Participate in community surveys and inspections.
- Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
- Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications; ensure proper labeling, storage, and dating per community policy.
- Complete medication charting per community policy and procedures.
- Document and handle medication errors and drug receipt errors following community procedures.
- Honor residents’ right to refuse medication and document refusals or reactions.
- Verify resident identity before administering medication.
- Assist with self‑administration, monitor and document, and notify nurse when refills are needed.
- Use personal protective equipment when performing procedures involving blood or bodily fluids.
- Follow all community safety precautions, wash hands before and after providing services, and report hazardous conditions.
- Assist residents with daily hygiene and toileting needs, and support CNAs as required.
- Be familiar with common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms used by the community, pharmacists, and physicians.

Physical Requirements
- Regular worksite attendance.
- Must hold a valid Medication Manager certificate.
- Must have basic computer skills and be proficient in English.
- Must work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays when required.
- Must assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies.
- Must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must meet general health requirements, including medical and physical examinations as mandated by state regulations and company policy.
- Must assist residents with transfers using a transfer/gait belt and, when lifting or carrying objects over 25 pounds, must obtain assistance from another employee.
Physical requirements include: lifting up to 10 lbs constantly, 11‑25 lbs constantly, 26‑50 lbs frequently, over 50 lbs frequently; carrying up to 10 lbs constantly, 11‑25 lbs occasionally, 26‑50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs occasionally; reaching above shoulder height frequently, at shoulder height constantly, below shoulder height constantly; pushing/pulling constantly; hand manipulation with grasping and handling constantly, torquing and fingering occasionally; and other physical considerations such as twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
EligibilityMust be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile individuals within the community; must be able to see, hear, or use prosthetic devices that enable adequate sensory function.
