Equestrian ACCESSIBLE PROGRAMMING REPRESENTATIVE
The Equestrian Center Programming Representative plays a vital role in advocating for and enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities within Polk County Conservation. This position focuses on expanding Veteran programming and enhancing current spaces to ensure equal access to all aspects of Polk County's natural resources for the public. One Quarter-Time Equestrian Center Programming Representative will serve with Polk County Conservation as part of the Polk County Conservation Ameri Corps Program.
Ameri Corps members develop skills that build a strong, leadership-packed résumé; earn a living stipend ($6,270) paid equally over the course of 450 hours of service; and receive a Segal Education Award upon successful completion ($1,956.35) to pay for higher education or qualified student loans. This position is Quarter-Time; members will serve a minimum of 450 hours over the course of 30 weeks, serving 15 hours per week.
This posting is not a direct position of Polk County Conservation, and successful applicants will not be employees of Polk County. Successful applicants will not be subject to terms and conditions of Polk County employment and will not be eligible for any employee benefits provided by Polk County. However, these positions will be serving with Polk County Conservation, a host site of the Polk County Conservation Ameri Corps Program, and will be subject to Ameri Corps rules, benefits, and requirements.

Member Duties :
Design and lead at least one equine-assisted service for Veterans and their families. Develop programs to support emotional well-being through horse interaction. Build relationships with Veteran service orgs and healthcare providers in Polk County to identify participants. Communicate with partners via phone and email to share and promote opportunities. Support outreach by taking photos (with consent) for social media and the Jester Park Equestrian Center website.
Work with staff to expand and improve Veteran programs with new activities and outreach. Educate participants on the benefits of equine-assisted activities and outdoor recreation. Monitor participant progress through check-ins and surveys. Participate in professional development and support other approved Ameri Corps activities.
