Trinity Rail is seeking a motivated, highly skilled, and experienced NDT Supervisor at our Shell Rock, IA location. At Trinity Rail Maintenance Services, Inc., we provide a complete array of railcar maintenance services to rail industries.
In this role, the NDT Supervisor will lead and oversee the NDT daily operations, ensuring quality products are designed, engineered, and manufactured by Trinity. This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing programs and processes to ensure that Trinity products are safe, legal, and meet or exceed customer expectations for compliance with national, regional, and global regulations. You'll follow appropriate procedures and diagnostic inspection and perform maintenance, modification, and rehabilitation of fabricated metal products and support operating systems according to work orders, blueprints, and schematics.
Whatyou'll do:
- Process adherence – Standard Operating Procedures
- Product conformity - Inspections
- Continual improvement and Root Cause Correction Analysis, aligned with our lean journey
- Supervise the daily activities of non-exempt and hourly employees including NDT Inspectors
- Supervise, train, and mentor NDT technicians
- Work with QA Administrators for Customer and product specific Quality records
- Perform complex troubleshooting and repair of NDT Equipment
- Lead a team by assigning and following up on the assigned tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned by the reporting senior leader
- Associate's Degree (Technical, Industrial, or Engineering) or relevant experience
- Possesses knowledge and understanding of welding and inspection of weldments
- In-depth understanding/experience in the following key processes, industry standards and operational best practices:
- AWS (American Welding Society)
- Weld Visual Inspection, based on AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code for steel
- AAR Manufacturing Standards and Recommended Practices
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Visual Testing (VT)
- Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Remote Visual Testing (RVT)
- Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and heights
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment and materials as needed in performance of duties
