CNC Machinist

FLSmidth ABON is seeking skilled CNC Machinists to operate and maintain CNC machines to produce high‑precision components used in heavy mining equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC programming, machine setup, and quality control to ensure the highest standards of manufacturing.

• Operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment to manufacture components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to determine machining requirements.
• Set up and adjust machines, including selecting appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds for optimal performance.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot CNC machines to ensure efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to optimize machining processes and improve production efficiency.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following safety procedures and regulations.
• Document production activities, including machine settings, adjustments, and completed work.

• Certificate III or IV in Engineering (Machining) or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming (Mazatrol, G‑code, Fanuc, Okuma preferred).
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality assurance.

• Experience in machining components for the mining or heavy equipment industry.
• Mazak experience is a big advantage.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
• Forklift or overhead crane operation certification.
