Overview
AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to food service, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co‑op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheese makers.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues.
- Heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
- Execute required tests on finished product according to SOPs and customer requirements.
- Execute required test on incoming ingredients according to QMS (Quality Monitoring Scheme).
- Responsible for daily/weekly plating, reading, calibration, sample collection, Internal Control Plan, sample preparations, etc.
- Support investigations on improvement projects (e.g., holds, consumer complaints), identify root causes and monitor corrective actions.
- Support training for operators to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as state in QMS.
- Communicate out‑of‑specification product results to supervisor.
- Calibrate lab equipment such as pH meter and scales, etc. according to SOPs.
- Conduct daily routine sample analyses using lab techniques and other instrumentation following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Organize laboratory records and files; ensures compliance to procedures and work instructions.
- Ensure correct recording of laboratory and quality records in compliance with SOPs including storage and retrieval of records.
- Support laboratory activities to maintain high quality of products, services, housekeeping and hygiene standards.
- Support laboratory compliance (calibration, equipment testing, etc.) to SQF and AMPI requirements.
- Follow all required GMP, quality and food safety requirements and upscale findings or incidents.
- Support execution of GMP throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures.
- Support improvement initiatives (e.g., complaints, holds) for facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
