Responsibilities
  • Ensures proper sanitation of production equipment and facilities by supervising and training sanitation employees.
  • Oversees cleaning and inspection of equipment and training according to established policies and procedures.
  • Leads sanitation operations by managing department personnel, work scheduling, hiring, termination, and conducting annual evaluations.
  • Coaches and develops sanitation staff to maintain and grow a strong quality culture.
  • Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
  • In absence, responsibilities are covered by the FSQ Manager and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained in chemical handling and titration verification and have necessary tools and equipment to perform their jobs.
  • Ensures adherence to safety processes during cleanup, including LOTO, and that GMP and HACCP guidelines are followed to sustain SQF certification.
  • Assists in maintaining SQF certification and plant improvement through program verification activities.
  • Participates in regulatory, customer, and internal audits.
  • Maintains sanitation activities that impact Food Safety and Quality of MFI products; reports conditions or practices that may affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
  • Monitors and reports KPIs such as pre-operational inspection findings.
  • Fosters a safe and healthy workplace, adheres to safety policies and reinforces Safety as a Core Value.
  • Adheres to quality work practices, GMPs, sanitary conditions, and reports conditions that may affect food safety and quality.
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and activities related to Safety are followed to reduce variability; participates in SRMP safety program.
  • Communicates effectively with Production, Maintenance, HR, and Safety; assists in third-party audit preparation and root cause analysis of sanitation deficiencies.
  • Maintains department budget, tracks supplies and labor hours against plan, conducts weekly chemical inventory, and updates sanitation procedures and practices as needed.
  • Develops, maintains, and audits sanitation SOPs for equipment and areas; performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality, production, or sanitation functions.
  • Associates degree preferred or equivalent experience in working sanitation.
  • Prior supervisor experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret SSOPs, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports, SSOPs, and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; lead effective root cause analyses.
  • Coordinate and supervise all sanitation department functions; resolve employee relations issues and supervise in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team skills; ability to develop and motivate salaried and hourly personnel.
  • Experience working with USDA or regulatory personnel and regulations; knowledge of CIP; knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques (preferred).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
