BEAM MACHINE OPERATOR 3 1ST SHIFT

Engineering Services and Products Company is seeking a BEAM MACHINE OPERATOR 3 1ST SHIFT to work within a manufacturing environment. The role reports to an area supervisor, who reports to the Manufacturing Clear Span Manager or Weld Manager. The operator is responsible for planning and producing a variety of machine parts or components and managing the operations of those machines with minimal supervision to meet ship dates.

This safety‑sensitive position may involve operating forklifts or combinational equipment, CNC machines, jigs, fixtures, tube benders, drill presses, saws, punch press, grinders, belt sanders, robotic welders, shears, milling machines, and other power and hand tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Meet all of the criteria as a Machine Operator 1 and 2.
  • Produce machined and constructed items by programming, setting, and operating a computer numerically controlled machine.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters. Must understand principles of tolerances.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards while operating CNC machines.
  • Make slight modifications to the programs for at least one of the machines.
  • Keep accurate records in E10 and other areas.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Know cutting tool feeds, speeds, and tool life.
  • Set up and program prove‑outs and optimize programs for simple parts.
  • Program mills, plasma, and entering instructions including zero points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements with basic math.
  • Value self‑leadership by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Identify the root cause of a quality‑related issue systematically.
  • Program machines to produce simple parts meeting print specifications.
  • Teach co‑workers, whether formal or informal training.
  • Recommend fixtures that increase productivity, repeatability, or quality of parts.
  • Maintain specifications by observing machine operations, troubleshooting processes, and adjusting controls.
  • Change fixtures as necessary on the machines.
  • Read and understand blueprints and other shop specifications/drawings.
  • Load and unload material and set up machines for standard and special production runs.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools accurately.
  • Promote ESAPCO and build a positive team environment with co‑workers.
  • Clean and maintain the area and floor space containing the machines.
  • Adhere to all safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • One year of machine operation preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of general N/C and other machine protocol and manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of corporate production methods and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, schematics, and a tape measure.
  • Ability to select programs on N/C machines.
  • Ability to produce parts and components from drawing and other specifications.
  • Ability to use tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to handle production raw materials.
  • Skilled in using tools and equipment.
  • Skilled in following directions.
  • Skilled in problem solving.
  • Must have communication skills appropriate for the job.
  • Ability to read, follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Education And/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of machine operation experience preferred.
  • Forklift Certification a plus.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to read and follow blueprints, interpret drawings, and read a tape measure.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include continuous standing, walking, talking, hearing, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasionally sitting. Regular lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Routine carrying, pushing/pulling, kneeling, crawling, and squatting.

Work Environment

Employees are exposed to fluctuating temperatures indoors from cooler to warmer conditions. The environment can be dry, dusty, humid, cold, or hot, inside and outside.
