Machine Operator

Afinitas, a Barry-Wehmiller company headquartered in St. Louis, MO, is a global leader in pipe and precast concrete equipment. We are hiring a Machine Operator for our 2nd shift.

Hours:

2:45 pm‑12:45 am, +$2 per hour shift differential.

• Startup and shutdown machines as recommended by maintenance
• Operate the machine to meet Afinitas quality standards in a safe and productive manner
• Perform required preventative maintenance
• Read prints and complete miters meeting Afinitas standards
• Set up and program saws for automatic cutting operations
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, or other special‑purpose equipment according to production specifications
• Verify conformance of machined work to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Read and interpret machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints
• Determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, and tooling requirements
• Select and set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools as appropriate
• Ensure safety operating procedures are followed throughout projects
• Other duties as assigned

• Qualified operator for all three saws
• Qualified to read prints and complete miters meeting Hawkeye standards
• Qualified to set up and program all three saws for automatic cutting operations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities
• Ability to work individually and in a team environment

• Plant/manufacturing setting with industrial machinery and chemicals; correct use of PPE is required.
