Duties
- Supervise 4,000+ head sow farm and related personnel, including day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising farm employees.
- Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm.
- Direct the breeding and raising of swine using recognized breeding practices.
- Supervise swine examinations to identify diseases.
- Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition.
- Meet daily and weekly production targets.
- Collect and record production data.
- Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner.
- Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs.
- Monitor breeding and grading to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards.
- Create and manage employee work schedules.
- Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees.
- Supervises 5-6 farm hands. No hire/fire authority.
- Requires two years of swine experience.
- Must have experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing.
- Must also have experience training in artificial insemination in swine.
- Must have experience in swine farm management of at least 1200 head.
- Experience required following detailed standard operating procedures.
- Experience required managing four or more animal caretakers on a sow farm.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds.
- Must be proficient in English reading and writing.
