Graceland University is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Director of Accounting Services to lead and manage the university’s accounting operations. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination with internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounting services operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Supervise payroll reviews, payroll tax compliance, and grant accounting.
• Lead the annual financial audit and coordinate preparation of 990/990T tax filings.
• Manage the annual budget and budget reset process with variance analysis and departmental support.
• Maintain accounting system structure and support process training and financial reporting needs across departments.
• Ensure accurate reporting for inventories, capital assets, pooled cash, investments, and construction projects.
• Manage insurance programs and property transactions.
• Serve on various university committees and support Board reporting as needed.

Supervisory Duties:

• Directly supervise 4 full-time staff members and student workers/interns.
• Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development and retention.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; non-profit or higher education experience strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
