SummaryThe Maintenance Laborer is responsible for various activities such as facility housekeeping and cleanup, handling and sorting materials, helping troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals.
Duties and Responsibilities- Maintains the facility by keeping the yard and shop clean and free of debris, performing repairs, and painting.
- Inspects equipment and systems for preventive maintenance.
- Makes minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other routine building maintenance and repair duties.
- Cleans and keeps indoor and outdoor areas of buildings, equipment, and grounds maintained.
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Notifies Leadman or Supervisor of any materials and/or equipment required for completion of job tasks.
- Follows all EHS rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to work and communicate within a team setting.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship.
- Ability to accommodate on-call responsibilities and work overtime when needed to support production staff.
- One to two years of work experience.
- Experience working in a production environment.
- Experience working with and understanding OSHA regulations.
Physical Requirements Work Environment
The work environment requires the employee to work in hot and cold environments, both in and out of the weather, work safely around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars, as well as around railroad tracks. Employees are required to use personal protective equipment such as steel toe boots, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, welding and grinding shields, etc.,
or as environmental conditions dictate.
