Our Client is a leading business debt restructuring and bankruptcy law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This entrepreneurial boutique firm represents farmers and business owners nationwide, helping them restructure debt, preserve assets, and minimize taxes through innovative and strategic legal solutions. The firm is nationally recognized for its thought leadership in agricultural and business bankruptcy, having advocated for legislative changes before Congress, submitted amicus briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court, and served as a trusted voice in financial and legal education seminars across the country.

- Provide exceptional legal services in the areas of bankruptcy, debt restructuring, and commercial law.
- Communicate effectively with clients, advisors, courts, and opposing counsel to ensure clarity and efficiency.
- Assist clients in establishing realistic goals and designing effective legal strategies to achieve them.
- Supervise and collaborate with legal staff and professionals to evaluate clients' financial, tax, and legal positions.
- Represent clients in mediations, negotiations, depositions, and hearings in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.
- Conduct client consultations and case evaluations, demonstrating strong client relationship and business development skills.
- Develop expertise in agricultural and business finance while applying advanced understanding of bankruptcy and tax implications.
- Proven experience in bankruptcy and debt restructuring, demonstrating progressive responsibility in a law firm or corporate legal setting.
- Experience confirming at least five Chapter 11 or Chapter 12 plans (or equivalent creditor-side experience).
- Proficiency handling key bankruptcy activities, including:
- Motions to lift stay, incur debt, or assume/reject leases.
- Plan objections and claim disputes.
- Adversary proceedings and commercial litigation.
- Subject matter expertise in at least two of the following three areas:
- Bankruptcy and commercial law
- Income tax law
- Agricultural business and finance
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Iowa, or ability to obtain Iowa licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
- Attorneys licensed in Illinois are encouraged to apply due to the firm's established client base in that region.
- Strong ability to determine lien priorities on real and personal property.
- Skilled in negotiation and mediation of complex financial matters.
- Deep understanding of tax implications for distressed or liquidating businesses.
- Ability to evaluate bankruptcy outcomes and develop strategic case plans.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to clarity and precision.
- Collaborative mindset, excellent organization, and ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
- Competitive salary up to $175,000 based on experience and performance.
