This position provides technical support and assists with maintaining the county’s IT infrastructure, communication systems, and physical access security.
Responsibilities- Assist in supporting servers, networks, phone systems, and card access systems to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of county servers, storage, and virtualization systems.
- Assist with monitoring system performance and backups, applying software and security updates as needed.
- Assist with creating and managing user accounts, groups, and permissions in Active Directory and other systems.
- Assist with maintaining IT documentation, asset inventories, and network diagrams.
- Assist with Microsoft 365 administration including Exchange, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Provide Tier I–II technical support by performing initial troubleshooting and support for employee laptop/desktop computers and peripheral devices; resolving technical problems and answering queries by telephone or email in support of hardware, software, network and telecommunications equipment.
- Ensures issues are resolved in a timely manner and escalates complex issues as appropriate.
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding of county employees, ensuring proper access and equipment provisioning and provides basic user training and promote IT best practices.
- Assist with maintaining the county’s LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
- Assist with monitoring network and security systems, responding to alerts and potential incidents.
- Assist with vulnerability assessments, patch management, and compliance initiatives including cybersecurity awareness and policy enforcement.
- Maintain and support the county’s electronic card access systems, including badge management, door controllers, and card readers.
- Issue, activate, and deactivate access cards for employees and contractors. Manage access levels, schedules, and system permissions in coordination with HR and Facilities.
- Troubleshoot access control hardware, including power supplies and controllers.
- Maintain and support CCTV systems, ensuring camera uptime and video retention compliance. Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software maintenance and upgrades.
- Maintain, manage, and support the county’s VoIP phone systems, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of phones, extensions, and voicemail.
- Add, modify, or remove user extensions and call routing profiles as needed. Manage phone system features such as auto attendants, call queues, hunt groups, and paging systems.
- Troubleshoot network-related issues impacting phone quality (QoS, VLANs, bandwidth).
- Maintain documentation of the phone system, wiring, and user directory.
- Collaborate with other departments to support technology and communications needs.
- Research and recommend technology solutions that improve efficiency and security.
- Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and implementation of new technologies.
- Coordinate with external vendors for service issues, upgrades, and new installations.
- Performs related duties.
- Associate’s Degree in MIS or computer technology related field.
- Three to five years of experience in systems management
- Knowledge of systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
- Knowledge of core networking principles.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies.
- Knowledge of voice mail systems.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware.
- Knowledge of network troubleshooting principles.
- Knowledge of a variety of software packages.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Server operating systems.
- Skill in troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software problems.
- Skill in the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.
- Skill in problem solving.
- Skill in conducting research into systems and products.
- Skill in prioritizing and planning.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in operating computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and distinguishes between shades of color.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
- Eligible to telecommute with the approval of the Director of Information Services.
