Position: LPN

General Description

This position serves to primarily assist clinic healthcare providers with patient examinations, phone calls, treatments and procedures as they may be performed within a clinic setting under the direction of the provider; within the scope of the professional license. This position maintains responsibility for patient medical histories, collection and preparation of specimens as required.

Essential Functions
  • Triages phone calls from patients, assesses needs of patient and communicates plan of care to patient and/or family.
  • Communicates results to health care provider as necessary.
  • Ensures documentation of all pertinent patient data meets organizational standards.
  • Receives requests for medication refills from pharmacy by phone or fax, reviews medical record for accuracy of medications and dosages and responds to pharmacy in a timely manner.
  • Ensures room and equipment meet standards for point of care testing.
  • Performs point of care testing per protocol.
  • Greets and rooms patients for health care provider in a caring, efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate appropriately with all patients across the life span.
  • Prepares the patient for visit in an efficient and timely manner according to department protocol.
  • Communicates all patient care concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Assists with examination and procedures as requested by health care provider.
  • Performs tests and procedures per protocols as directed by health care provider.
  • Maintains department specific competencies.
  • Responds to phone calls and messages from patients according to department protocol.
  • Promotes effective relationships with patient, provider and co-workers to help achieve customer service goals.
  • Facilitates patient referrals to other health care professionals or specialists as directed by health care provider.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean and stocked according to department standards.
  • Reports results to patients as directed by health care provider according to department standards.
  • Assists with patient education as directed by health care provider.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to meet department needs.
  • Accurately schedules and registers patient as a receptionist when needed.
