Job Description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our full-time team. This position is eligible for a $10,000 recruitment payment and a $10,000 retention payment for every six months of commitment. In addition to base pay, a shift differential of $0.90 per hour (second shift) and $1.00 per hour (third shift) is available.

• Communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
• Receive, transcribe, and report physician orders and client conditions.
• Provide treatment, implement nursing interventions, and respond to emergency situations.
• Accurately and efficiently document client assessments, observations, progress, and care provided.
• Maintain licensure, basic life support certification, and mandatory continuing education.
• Attend seminars, conferences, and training activities to stay current in nursing practice standards and evidence-based care.

• Valid, unrestricted Iowa Registered Nurse licensure or licensure under the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
• Background check completion.
• Experience providing inpatient treatment and acute psychiatric services, including individualized treatment plans for adult, child, and family clients.
• Ability to collaborate with staff in formulating client plans, administer medication, conduct group counseling, and facilitate therapeutic activities.
