Environmental Services Technician, Housekeeping/Laundry Long Term Care (LTC)

Good Samaritan seeks an Environmental Services Technician in Long Term Care to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients/residents, visitors, and staff. The position is part-time and located at the GSS IA West Union Center, West Union, IA.

• Maintain cleanliness of patient/resident rooms and assigned areas following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
• Empty waste baskets, sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered machines.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry processes, including using tools and techniques appropriate for a healthcare environment.
• Operate pagers and other technology as required and assist in laundry areas as needed.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and maintain well-stocked, clean, and tidy equipment and carts.
• Perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting (up to 40–50 lb), and moving equipment on flat surfaces or ramps.
• Be available for overtime, on‑call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays as required by patient/resident needs.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience (preferred).
• Ability to use a computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
