Essential Functions
  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Delivers patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation.
  • Assists with various procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment (e.g., tympanometry, spirometry) while maintaining aseptic techniques during preparation, procedures, and medication administration.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and immunizations under the direction of providers.
  • Prepares and organizes patient charts, files dictations, and ensures completion of all required documentation; communicates with patients regarding test results and the plan of care.
  • Schedules procedures, labs, X‑rays, and surgeries; provides pre‑ and post‑surgery information and assists with patient outreach for overdue visits, labs, and referrals.
  • Coordinates physician schedules and ensures insurance pre‑certifications; schedules and manages patient follow‑ups, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to organizational standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Educates patients and families based on assessed needs and discharge plans.
  • Promotes evidence‑based resources to optimize nursing practice and patient care.
  • Serves as a patient advocate by utilizing courteous and professional etiquette, reflecting a positive tone and speaking distinctly, poise, tact and assurance; assures accurate and complete messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in training, orienting, and supporting new colleagues; work includes cross‑coverage in other clinic areas as team needs.
  • Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider; escalates non‑routine issues, questions and concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, and other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Acceptable Certifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) – American Medical Certification Association
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health Career Association
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • NPCE MA – National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.

Proof of completion of mandatory reporter abuse training specific to the population served within 3 months of hire.

Proficient in basic computer skills (Windows environment, web‑based navigation, e‑mail, MS Office).

Ability to work with diverse groups of people and in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues while performing job duties.

Possesses a personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
