We're looking for an Environmental Intern to join our American Ordnance team located in Middletown, IA. This role provides hands‑on experience in environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory reporting within a manufacturing environment. The intern will assist with ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including those established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), while supporting continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Responsibilities- Assist with environmental compliance audits and facility inspections.
- Support air, water, and waste regulatory reporting and record‑keeping.
- Help maintain permits and compliance documentation (air permits, stormwater permits, waste manifests, etc.).
- Assist with hazardous waste management activities.
- Track and analyze environmental performance data (energy use, water consumption, waste generation).
- Understand regulatory compliance requirements in manufacturing.
- Gain experience in industrial hazard identification and risk mitigation.
- Develop professional communication skills within a production environment.
- Apply classroom knowledge to real‑world safety challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Great attitude and team player.
- Successful completion of background and drug screening process.
In compliance with this state’s pay‑transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $22.00 - $24.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
