Overview
Meadow View Elementary is seeking highly motivated, quality applicants to work as a special education teacher. Meadow View is a 2nd-4th grade building that opened in August 2021. The building has 24 classroom sections and an energetic, collaborative staff. Meadow View Elementary educates approximately 550 students and is located in Adel, which is on the edge of the Des Moines metropolitan area.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate special education teacher who holds high expectations for all students and is committed to fostering their academic and personal growth. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about a variety of interventions, resources, and best practices to support diverse learning needs while ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Strong organizational and planning skills are essential to effectively develop and implement individualized instruction, track student progress, and collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff.
Candidates must lead with humility and strive for continued improvement. Applicants must be highly collaborative and able to analyze student achievement data to make instructional decisions. The ADM staff is committed to the Professional Learning Community model and this position would require a dedication to collaborative teaming and student achievement. The ideal candidate would possess a passion for student achievement and emotional well-being.
- Valid Iowa Teacher License K-6 endorsement
- Permanent or conditional license in Special Education
- K-8 Instructional Strategist I:
Mild/Moderate - Preferred but not required certification:
- K-12 Instructional Strategist II:
- Knowledge of best practices for special education and general education
- Highly collaborative with special education teachers, general education teachers, associates, parents, AEA 11 and administration to meet individual student goals
- Ability to assume leadership roles for IEP meetings and intervention meetings
- Interest in participating and seeking out professional learning opportunities, implementing strategies, and showing a reflective nature to grow professionally
- Strong data analysis skills to make instructional decisions
- Effective record-keeping and organizational skills
- Ability to diagnose student strengths and needs, including the function of behavior, to plan and deliver instructional accommodations to maximize student achievement
