ASSISTANT TEACHER – Harlan, Iowa – Head Start

West Central Community Action Head Start Preschool seeks an Assistant Teacher to work in Harlan, Iowa.

Assistant Teachers are responsible for interacting with children, providing a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and activities for children and participating actively in the teaching team through communication, collaboration, and curriculum planning.

• Interact with children and provide developmentally appropriate materials and activities.
• Participate actively in the teaching team through communication, collaboration and curriculum planning.

• Ability to work with children and families from various cultural, economic & social backgrounds.
• Current valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and ability to maintain current auto liability insurance.
• Completed High School or GED.
• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education / Education or Child Development Accreditation preferred.
• Previous experience in Early Childhood Education strongly preferred.

The starting pay for this position is $15.39 per hour. Salary or rate is based on education level. Benefits include vacation/sick pay, paid holidays, IPERS and 403(b) retirement programs. Health / Dental and life insurance are also available.

This is a 40-hour per week, 38-week per year position.

West Central Community Action Head Start, located at the Harlan Iowa Head Start Center.
