The Adel DeSoto Minburn Community School District is seeking a highly skilled and motivated 6th-grade teacher at DeSoto Intermediate for the 2026-27 school year.
DeSoto Intermediate is a progressive fifth and sixth-grade building with small class sizes and an energetic, passionate staff. DeSoto Intermediate educates approximately 350 students and is located directly west of Waukee on the edge of the Des Moines metropolitan area. DeSoto Intermediate 6th grade teachers work on teams in which they teach two groups of students various content areas. Sixth
-grade teachers will be responsible for teaching either math and science or reading, writing, and social studies.
Candidates must lead with humility and strive for continued improvement. Applicants must be highly collaborative and able to analyze student achievement data to make instructional decisions. The ADM staff is committed to the Professional Learning Community model and this position would require a dedication to collaborative teaming and student achievement. The ideal candidate would possess a passion for student achievement and emotional well-being, have experience integrating technology within the classroom, and strive for continued instructional improvement.
Qualifications- Valid Teacher License K-6 Endorsement
- Belief that each and every learner can achieve and work to make a positive impact in students' lives
- Knowledge of practices for a general education classroom including current research and evidence-based instructional practices
- Commitment to differentiated instruction
- Strong communication skills
- Interest to participate and seek out professional learning opportunities, implement strategies, and show a reflective nature to grow professionally
- Strong formative and summative data analysis skills to make instructional decisions
- Effective record keeping and organizational skills
- Knowledge of using technology to enhance learning
