DescriptionThe Division of Psychological & Educational Services (PES), housed within Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education (GSE), invites applications for a clinical Assistant Professor position within its MPCAC‑accredited master’s programs in School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling. In addition to graduate‑level teaching, the successful applicant will provide effective academic advisement and clinical mentorship to promote graduate students’ professional competence and skill development.
The candidate will contribute to initiatives and activities in the PES division and in the Graduate School of Education. The program, division, school, and university are especially interested in qualified candidates who are committed to and will actively contribute to our efforts to celebrate our cultural and intellectual richness and be resolute in advancing equity and inclusion of the academic community through teaching and service.
Responsibilities
- Teach graduate‑level counseling courses each semester in the counseling programs.
- Provide advising and mentoring to graduate students in the counseling programs.
- Contribute to the PES’s academic and programmatic activities, including grading of comprehensive examinations, student orientation, admissions, and other field experience‑related activities.
- Provide division, school, and university‑wide service and professional service at state and national levels focused on promoting equity and access to the counseling field and mental health services across the lifespan.
- Actively support a just, safe, and inclusive campus by committing to improving systems to support minoritized and historically marginalized people to reduce bias and create and sustain equity.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology.
- Licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC) or psychologist, or eligible for licensure as a mental health counselor or psychologist in New York State.
- Commitment to diversity, social justice, and excellence in graduate preparation.
- Competence in clinical practice and competence to make contributions to graduate‑level clinical and assessment courses.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students across the college and university.
Preference Will Be Given To Candidates Who Also Have:
- Evidence of success in teaching graduate‑level courses, program development, and student mentoring.
- Experience with instructional technology applications and distance delivery methods for graduate education.
