The Sioux County Youth Program Educator will focus on Positive Youth Development, promote Iowa 4-H, and enhance educational opportunities in Sioux County. They will strive to empower youth to reach their full potential through youth‑adult partnerships and research‑based experiences. The Sioux County Youth Program Educator will work with Sioux County Extension staff and community partners, providing educational programs and experiences that work toward multiple life skill outcomes (productive citizens, outstanding communicators, effective leaders, and successful learners).

Responsibilities

• Support with the execution of Clover Kids after‑school programming
• Maintain a positive working environment with county staff
• Assist K-12 Program Coordinator in program delivery, including but not limited to:
  Clover Kids, library programs, and in‑school programming
• Manage resources to ensure the effective delivery of educational programs
• Expand program reach to include new and underserved audiences.
• Work closely with other county and regional ISU Extension and Outreach program staff to develop and execute county program action plans
• Work with ISU Extension and Outreach volunteers to deliver youth programming.
• Represent ISU Extension and Outreach locally and regionally as a professional through networking, community involvement, and public relations.
• Other duties as assigned

• High school degree or equivalent

• Experience with classroom management and behavior regulation in youth
• Ability to successfully manage schedule, including some evenings
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass background screening to meet the Child Protection and Safety Policy requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework in education with experience in formal and/or informal teaching.
• Fluent in Spanish.
• Knowledge of the experiential learning model and familiarity with youth developmental stages.
• Teaching and program delivery experience, specifically to youth ages K-3, using already developed curriculum.
• Experience as a user of Extension programs is a plus.

Additional Information

SUPERVISOR: Strategic oversight by Extension Council;
Direct oversight by Regional Director;
Programmatic oversight by K-12 Program Coordinator

Reports directly to and receives direction from the K-12 Program Coordinator with input from the county extension council, Regional Director, and Youth Program Specialist.

This position is part‑time at the ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County office in Orange City, Iowa. Some programming will take place in other locations, i.e., schools, libraries, etc. The schedule is dependent on programming needs and will consist of approximately 5–10 hours per week. Starting pay will be $15 an hour and is dependent upon education and experience. Employment is contingent on successful background screening.
