Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships.

• Demonstrate the ability to teach and coach young people in fundamentals and techniques.
• Desire to constantly improve the sports program.
• Motivate student-athletes to excel on the court and in the classroom.
• Develop and maintain a strong cross country program with appropriate competitive drive.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders including administration, staff, students, and booster clubs.
• Support the strength and conditioning coordinator for proper training of athletes.
• Provide supervision before, during, and after practices and games.

• Lead by example, demonstrating high character and morals.
• Promote participation in other school programs and activities.
• Collaborate with Athletic Boosters, including attending meetings and working concession stands.
• Support Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for behavior and academics.
• Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
• Build rapport with culturally diverse students to help them reach their potential.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the head coach and administration.

Must meet the physical demands necessary to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodations as needed.

• Regularly sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk.
• Occasionally lift/move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Supervise students in various weather conditions.
• Implement crisis prevention and physical restraint strategies.

Characteristics include variable noise levels, indoor/outdoor work, potential non-air-conditioned settings, and a fast-paced environment with constant contact with students, staff, and the public.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of students.

• Valid Iowa coaching endorsement and completion of NFHS Online Concussion Course.
• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by administration.
