Position Summary

The Elementary School Principal will be responsible for fostering a culture of academic excellence, inclusivity, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to student achievement, faculty development, and community engagement while ensuring compliance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices aligned with Massachusetts state standards.
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and equitable school climate that fosters student success and teacher growth.
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate teachers and staff to support high-quality instruction and professional development.
  • Oversee student discipline, attendance, and behavioral interventions in collaboration with teachers and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all Massachusetts DESE regulations, including the requirements for SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement.
  • Develop and oversee the school's budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources.
  • Engage with families, local community organizations, and stakeholders to foster a strong school-community partnership.
  • Lead initiatives to promote social-emotional learning (SEL) and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to enhance student performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, including special education and English learner programming.
  • Provide continuous professional feedback using observations, performance evaluations, and other coaching opportunities.
  • Adhere to all School policies in partnership with Human Resources and Executive Leadership, when necessary.
Qualifications and Expectations
  • Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
  • Massachusetts DESE Principal/Assistant Principal (PreK-6) License required.
  • SEI Endorsement required; additional bilingual/ESL certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience preferred; administrative/leadership experience in an elementary setting required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities; expertise in curriculum development and instructional best practices.
  • Experience Working In a Charter School Environment Preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and teacher effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of data-driven instructional strategies and educational technology.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
Additional Requirements
  • Background check and fingerprinting as required by Massachusetts state regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift, move, or assist students when necessary.
  • Completion of any required professional development or certifications as mandated by the District.
Work Environment

This position operates in a school and office setting. Some travel between schools may be required. Occasional evening and weekend events for Board of Trustee meetings, parent meetings, academic and/or athletic events, or professional development may be necessary.
