PARK ATTENDANT (PT) – PINE TRACE PARK

City of Durham – Pine Trace Park (Part‑time)

Description

Under the direct supervision of Park Management, the Park Attendant will perform a variety of duties at park facilities operated by the City of Durham. The role includes providing information to the public, operating a register, enforcing rules, and delivering excellent customer service. Positions require early‑morning, late‑night, weekend, and holiday work.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with supervisors and co‑workers on a regular basis.
  • Provide general park information and respond to special requests, complaints, and suggestions in an effective manner.
  • Participate in the set‑up, breakdown, and implementation of park special events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of park facilities.
  • Ensure all activities and operations are conducted according to established procedures and policies.
  • Enforce rules, safety regulations, and facility guidelines for visitors.
  • Operate a point‑of‑sale system or cash register, properly account for visitor admission, and handle various forms of payment.
  • Monitor park entrance and exit points.
  • Provide equipment and facility rentals, including maintenance and upkeep of rental equipment.
  • Accurately take and process customer food orders and manage food or concession sales.
  • Handle reservations, ticket and retail sales, stocking, and inventory using computer software.
  • Perform custodial and maintenance duties for grounds, athletic fields, and buildings.
  • Work in outdoor environments and in physically demanding positions when required.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age 16 years.
  • Must attend and successfully complete all training programs required by City of Durham.
  • Basic computer skills, ability to multitask, and detail oriented.
  • Proficiency in dealing with difficult customers in a professional manner.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Preferred: prior experience working in parks or recreational services.
