C. Stutsman, Inc. is hiring for a Purchasing Agent to support our wholesale feed ingredient division at our Hills, Iowa location.

As the Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for sourcing and securing high-quality feed ingredients, nutritional additives and related materials to meet distribution needs. This position requires a strong understanding of vendor management, market trends, industry regulations and pricing.

• Develops, leads, and executes purchasing strategies
• Monitors market conditions and commodity pricing to inform purchasing decisions and mitigate risk
• Maintains relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and supply
• Coordinates with the dispatch and warehouse teams to manage inbound shipments
• Maintains accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance
• Ensures compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards
• Participates in strategic sourcing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
• Analyzes inventory levels and forecasts demand to prevent shortages or overstock situations
• Supports sustainability and traceability initiatives related to sourcing
• Ability to back up other Purchasing Agents in their absence
• Maintains a clean, safe working environment

• Bachelor’s degree in agricultural field and/or two years of equivalent experience is required
• Proficiency with ERP systems for managing purchase orders, inventory and supplier data
• Ability to gather and analyze data, negotiate and network
• Possess resourcefulness in finding solutions to problems
• Strong leadership abilities
• Attend job related/industry professional development meetings
• Occasional travel may be required, as needed
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation
