Merchandising Specialist Position Summary
The Grain Merchandiser is part of the corporate grain merchandising team, based at Gold-Eagle Cooperative's headquarters in Eagle Grove, Iowa. This role supports grain and ethanol merchandising across a multi-site operation that includes approximately 20 grain locations, two feed mills, and an ethanol facility. The position blends producer origination, commercial merchandising, and grain hopper dispatch. This role executes pricing and logistics decisions within defined limits while working closely with the Commodities Risk Manager and merchandising team.
Key Responsibilities- Originate corn and soybeans through producer relationships, contract execution, and pricing discussions
- Support merchandising of grain, feed ingredients, SBM, and ethanol-related products including DDGs, corn oil, and related commodities
- Execute pricing and merchandising activity within established risk limits
- Own hopper dispatch, coordinating grain and ingredient movement to align contracts, inventory needs, and market conditions
- Assist with hedging, position tracking, and daily position accounting
- Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, commercial partners, and internal teams
- Monitor CBOT markets, basis trends, and regional supply/demand dynamics
- Ensure accurate trade entry, contract documentation, and execution
- Bachelor's degree in ag economics, economics, finance, business, or related field
- Working knowledge of futures markets, hedging, and grain logistics
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license
- Starting salary: $100,000, based on experience
