OverviewA ready mix plant manager will play an important part in the daily duties of a ready mix plant. Manage operations by performing tasks such as processing customer orders, dispatching deliveries, delivering concrete, and ensuring all plant functions run successfully. Work with different contractors and projects every day, maintain concrete quality, foster courteous customer relations, and lead a team that feels like family.

- Batch concrete using manual and computerized systems.
- Understand mix‑design differences, visually inspect mixes for proper materials, verify load sizes, check slump, and make adjustments.
- Process customer orders and determine yardage.
- Schedule trucks to meet order schedules.
- Prepare daily and weekly run schedules for efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
- Order and coordinate deliveries from suppliers and internally.
- Have basic knowledge of concrete finishing problems and their causes.
- Troubleshoot plant and mixer truck problems.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally and courteously to complete delivery, collect payment, and attract future business.
- Develop and lead the team, train, motivate, and give direction; resolve grievances through coaching and disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Promote a safe work environment by facilitating weekly management and safety activities.
- Balance profitability with business needs.
- Maintain and account for all assigned equipment, including vehicles, plant, and shop, to promote a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
- Complete all required paperwork and administrative duties (payroll, invoice approvals, ticketing, inventory management) using computers, tablets, or cell phones to ensure proper accounting and time‑keeping practices.
- Support operational needs by operating a ready mix truck as required, complying with DOT regulations, performing pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, and maintaining vehicle maintenance.
- Demonstrate a team‑player mentality and eagerness to cross‑train on dispatching, batching, mechanics, etc.
- Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work.
- Consent to pre‑employment work screen, motor‑vehicle record request, and drug test.
- Class A or B CDL and current Medical DOT card.
- ACI certification and working knowledge of ACI tests.
- Basic knowledge of concrete finishing problems and their causes.
- Self‑motivated with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Must wear personal protective equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to understand instructions in both written and verbal forms.
- Dependability and reliability—show up to scheduled shifts on time and be prepared for work.
- Positive attitude critical for productive relationships with co‑workers and management.
- Exposure to weather elements (heat, cold, noise, dust) and outdoor work.
- Overnight travel may occasionally be required.
