Position SummaryThe role of Tactical Buyer – Customs Specialist directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the Tactical Buyer, you will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day procurement operations, focusing on SAP‑based purchase order administration, supplier onboarding, and customs/tariff compliance for the U.S. market. This role is critical to ensure smooth material flow, cost control, and regulatory adherence across our sourcing activities.
What You’ll Do- Manage SAP purchase orders: create, release, and handle POs for direct and indirect materials.
- Monitor PO status, expedite deliveries, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate procurement data in SAP, including pricing, lead times, and delivery terms.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement with production schedules.
- Coordinate supplier onboarding in SAP, ensuring documentation, certifications, and compliance requirements are met.
- Maintain supplier master data and ensure alignment with corporate procurement policies.
- Represent the company for U.S. customs regulations, tariff classifications, and import/export documentation.
- Analyze tariff impact on material costs and lead times.
- Work with customs brokers and logistics teams to guarantee compliance with U.S. trade laws.
- Monitor trade policy changes and adjust sourcing strategies to mitigate cost and risk.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tactical buying or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Certification in International Trade Compliance or Customs Brokerage (preferred).
- Solid understanding of U.S. customs regulations, HTS codes, and tariff structures.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams including logistics, engineering, and finance.
- Familiarity with PFEP, S&OP cycles, and inventory models (preferred).
- Experience with supplier audits and corrective action processes (preferred).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to project sites and on business as required; possess a passport.
- Valid full‑vehicle driver’s license; periodic driver’s abstract checks required.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of safety protocols and commitment to safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Use required safety equipment and follow regulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a safe working environment.
- Speak and understand English fluently.
